In an amazing month in Vancouver the Milka Ski-Girls achieved astonishing results!
A year after her first golden World triumph at Val d’Isère where Maria Riesch won the slalom, she captured two golden medals at the Olympic games in the Combined and in Slalom.
16 years after the Lillehammer Olympics, Tina Maze became the only fourth Slovenian alpine skier to clinch a medal at the Winter Olympics as she finished an impressive 2nd in the women Super-G race and in the Giant Slalom. Last but not least, Sarka Zahrobska achieved another historic performance at Whistler Creek finishing 3rd in the Olympic slalom of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games.
But the skiing season isn’t over yet!
Back in Europe we will see the Milka Ski-Girls competing for the Crystal Globe in Garmisch – Partenkirchen!
We wish all Milka Ski-Girls good luck for the upcoming World Cup races and are really proud to sponsor such gorgeous athletes and amazing personalities!
The Milka Sponsoring Team
Unbelievable what’s going on right now! At the moment I only want to thank you very much! Firstly for crossing your fingers for me during the Olympic Games and secondly for the amazing amount of best luck wishes I got from you. I am really proud to have such amazing fans! Thank you!
Yours
Maria
I'm happy with results in Cortina. Finally the SG went well. Today I did 16km
with Cross Country Skis and Cortina is so nice. Although we have race in St.
Moritz I m looking forward for the Olympic Games!
Big Kiss to my fans!
Tina
Cortina d'Ampezzo is such a beautiful ski resort! I love the nature around. This year was really nice weather almost whole week. Not like last year, when during three days came more than one meter of new snow! On Friday I did SG race. I had really fun in Super-G, unfortunately I wasn't to fast :-) On Sunday I got finally some important points in GS as well! Next week I spend in St. Moritz. The last World Cup races before Olympics Games. The first race in Whistler is already in three weeks!
Greetings,
Sarka
Hi!
I was training the last two days. In St. Moritz the last race before the Olympic Games will take place and I hope I have a good race at the Super Combined. After that we travel to Vienna to get our ne outfits for the Olympic Games and on the 5th we travel to Vancouver!
So, see you soon in the new Outfit!:-)
Michi
At Cortina not everything went so perfect for me. After a great fault at the Super-G I only could achieve the 15th place. But the downhill the day after went even better. Lindsey again wasn’t beatable but I had a great race and I am really satisfied with my second place. At the Giant Slalom on Sunday I surely could have achieved a better place after my 5th position at the first run. But after a great fault at the second run I only could achieve the 8th place. As you know this position isn’t really bad for me at a giant slalom.
At the overall Welt Cup results I am in a good rank (56 points less than Lindsey), but as there are still a lot of speed races it will be difficult to keep this position…
The week in Cortina was really funny! We had great weather and marvellous conditions!
Tomorrow we will travel to St . Moritz. I have really good memories of this place, as I achieved some podium places there. It would be great if that would work out again next weekend!
There will take place the last World Cup competitions before the Olympics and of course I want to achieve some more self confidence for the upcoming Olympic Games.
Of course I will write to you before I leave for Canada.
See you soon!
Yours Maria
It was a good week. Not only because it was sunshining everyday on the Dolomites, but also because I skied well in speed.
I have so good feeling on my skis that things seems easier. I finished 5th in downhill, so close to the podium....and have the feeling that I did an entire run.
The course was great, with ice snow on the top, some nice jumps and obviously speed!!!
I've had also a really nice surprise with the Milka Sponsoring Team. Thomas was here and he left for all the french team a big box of chocolate!!! For sure there will be some liver complaint!!!
Now I have 2 days off before the last week of speed in Saint Moritz.
Bye bye,
Ingrid
Hi everyone,
The Gs in Maribor was not really what I expected.... After 3 days of training in Innerkrems, on the ice, I tought it could be the best way to come back in Gs.
Unfortunatly not! The snow was really soft and I skied well but not fast....
There is one last Gs, it will be in Cortina and I will do some more training to find the right timing. It's my last chance to qualify for the Olympics.
Anyway, I wanted to show you what I found in Innerkrems....
This pair of Milka skis.....old one!!! It's amazing what we find in some place completly unexpected!
I hesitated to steal the skis....but I prefered to keep my Salomon skis!
I am now off to Cortina for a speed week, YEAH!
At the last three races I was on the podium! It’s really working fine for me at the moment. Only the Night Slalom in Flachau was a small disappointment for me (despite my 2nd place). As my sister and I were first and second after the first run, we wanted to keep it like- we had been nearly a second faster as the others. But unfortunately at the Slalom everything changes in a moment. So that at the end Sue was disqualified and I made a big fault at the second run, so that we had to cede the victory to the Austrian Marlies Schild.
Despite that the Night race was really fun, because the atmosphere was really amazing.
The last weekend in Maribor couldn’t have been better. Particularly my first podium place at the Giant Slalom I was awaiting for so long was balm for my soul. It wasn’t possible to be better as Kathrin Zettel and so the World Cup stays exciting. The decision will be made at the end of the season in March at the final in Garmisch.
Today I finally have a free day at home in Garmisch. I am really happy to travel tomorrow as the overall World Cup leader to Cortina d’Ampezzo. There we will have a slalom and two speed races at those probably Lindsey will get back her leadership at the World Cup.
But: Of course I will give everything to keep up with her!
Greets,
Maria
The race weekend in Maribor is behind us. Actually it was the last technical events before Olympics and in the season as well expect the final in Garmisch in middle of the March. I am not satisfied with my performance in last two slaloms. It is nice to be almost every slalom race top 10 but my goals before the season were to be on the podium as often as possible and to fight about the slalom globe. Now I know that I can’t have the globe in this season because I am already more that 100 points behind Maria. Maria is this year in slalom really great again! Now I am back in Austria for training before the races next weekend in Cortina. I want to start on Friday in SG and on Sunday in GS. My last chance to get some points in these disciplines.
Please, keep your fingers crossed for me!
Sarka
This week I am at home till Thursday and will enjoy ans train some days my condition. After that I will go to Cortina to train some Giant Slalom. I am looking fowars to the Giant Slalom in Cortina. I alwaysa skied quite well there- last year I was on the podium!
As it is the last Giant Slalom before the Olympics I want to give all and get my best season result!
Wish you a great week!
Michi
Well, the weekend in Haus was really one with “missed chances”. The 3rd place at the downhill on Friday was okay, but my race was everything else but perfect. Maybe I could have been better than Lindsey on that day. I knew that I had enough time saved, but at the race I was too tense and so I did mess up some of the curves. So I got the 7th place and no podium place. The Super-G on Sunday was my biggest disappointment. I had a really good race and I noticed that I was really in good time. Just before the finish line a mishap occurred and I missed again a top result. My exasperation was big and I only wanted to go away from the stadium as fast as possible!
Today we had Slalom training on the Reiteralm. The target for me was to manage the change from the long Downhill ski (2,10m) to the short Slalom ski (1,60m) in a short time. We had a great prepared slope and we also got a ski-doo for our disposal, which took us faster to the start again as the long ski-lift-cabin. The training was great and I had a great feeling on the short skis.
Keep your fingers crossed for me at the race tomorrow evening. I am really looking forward to it. At night-races is always a really special atmosphere and to race in Austria is always great, as the atmosphere is incomparably! Nevertheless: I want the red tricot back!
Greetings,
Maria
The week in Haus im Ennstal is now finished, and I could say that it was a pretty good week. Even my first downhill wasn't what I expected, it ended up by a podium the second race! And super-g wasn't a bad race, I haven't so much power to finish my race but the ski was here!
Anyway, it's always good to build confidence.
I am now in Innerkrems in Austria to train in Gs. I hope to ski on the ice to prepare Maribor. Giant Slalom has been tough for me these last week and it's one of my goal. I'd like to compete for the Olympics. So we'll see next week-end.
See you
Ingrid
See you soon!
Hi everyone,
After a while at home, I am now back for speed events in Haus im Ennsta (AT).
It's always nice to race in Austria because people are supporting us really strong!
The course is nice, and there is some nice jumps, it's seems like a real downhill. And we are lucky because since the beginning of the season we have had really nice courses. Lake Louise, Val d'Isere and now Haus.
I hope to do well here and keep that confidence until the Olympics.
See you,
Ingrid
I hope that all of you spent a wonderful Christmas and welcomed the New Year 2010. I spent the Christmas Eve at home in Prague. Just one day after, I went to Lienz in Austria for the next stage of ski world cup. Both races were very tough. The slope in Lienz is quite difficult and the course was very icy. After, we stayed in Lienz for couple more days. The first race in New Year took place in Zagreb. I look forward to Zagreb (CRO) every year because of great race atmosphere. I was satisfied with my 5th place. Now I spend one week with speed disciplines in Haus im Ennstal (AT).
Happy New Year!
Sarka
Hi!
I am now in Flachau (AT) for training. I am not sure now if I will participate on all races this weekend by now, but the training is going very well. Tomorrow we drive to Haus im Ennstal (AT)!
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
See you soon!
Michi
The end of the year in Lienz wasn’t really good for me, but such days are normal and as an athlete you have to cope with those defeats…
I will spend New Years Eve with my sister Sue and some friends. First we will have Fondue, on midnight we will cheers to the New Year and then I will go to bed early, as I want to pass by at the ski jumpers in the morning. Afterwards I will drive to Maria Alm and train for the Slalom to get hopefully back my good shape. After the training we will travel to Zagreb, where the next Slalom World Cup race will take place on the 3rd of January.
I wish you all a healthy and happy New Year 2010!
Sincerely
Yours Maria
Its short-time after midnight and I am finally back at home from a quite turbulent, but at least partially successful weekend in Are. As our charter arrived in Zurich, we had after arrival at 8 PM still a three hours drive home…
It’s a pity that I again couldn’t manage to show what I can at the Giant Slalom on Saturday. I really had a good race until my disqualification and I am trying to think positively about it and to take those positive thoughts to the next races.
Especially in the second run the Slalom was really hard to ski, because of the fog the visibility was really bad and as leader after the first run I had to deal with the bumpy slope. I definitely didn’t want to be disqualified again and so I am quite pleased with my second position and the additional 80 World Cup points. More over it was really particular to stay on the podium with my sister Susanne!
Apart from that the journey to Sweden was quite unspectacular. Due to the charter flight we exceptionally hadn’t troubles with our luggage and all got their bags.
For me it starts again on Tuesday morning when we travel to Val d’Isere where we will challenge three races after two day of training. As I won last February the gold medal at the Slalom, I will go back to Val d’Isere with a good feeling and I am looking forward to the races.
I hope you too!
Yours Maria
See you soon!
Michi
Hi,
the weather in Are was quite warm. Surprisingly for this season.
Actually, I am not quite satisfied with my performance at the weekend.
My GS results are not like I wish they should have been. The 7th place
in slalom was ok, but not really if I want to think about a crystal globe for
slalom, I have to be next race on podium again. Whole weekend I was accompanied from Eurosport. It was fun and nice experience for me. I hope you enjoyed! I arrived at home on Monday evening. Actually I am quite tired. It will be nice to spend some days at home. At the end of the week, we go to Austria for some days ski training.
Sarka
Are is my luck place, I can say now. Last season I won the last race here, now I made it to second place. These are the results I was expecting in GS for this season. The course was quite tricky and a lot of girls did mistakes. I was also on the limit , but at the end , everything is all right.
In slalom I finished 12th, which is my best result in slalom this year( like in Levi). I think that is OK, because in the future I have number 16. That is great!!!
I don’t want to have number 31 anymore.I had it so many times.
Tomorrow we move to Val d’Isere and the speed is coming back!
C U,
Tina
The Milka Ski Girls are achieving amazing results at the FIS Ski World Cup! Last weekend the first speed races of the season in Lake Louise ended with two podium places for the Milka Ski Girls: Maria Riesch as 2nd at Downhill and Ingrid Jacquemod as 3rd at Super-G!
We have to admit that the Milka Sponsoring Team was holding their breath and keeping the fingers crossed during the races - it worked out!
We wish Milka Ski Girls good luck for Are!!
See you there!
The Milka Sponsoring Team
Hi all!
I already had really good training days at the Reiteralm! I have now two days without snow before we fly to Are on Thursday. I am really looking forward to the races in Are! I always have good races there and hope to get my next good results!
I wish you a great week!
Greets
Michi
It's been a really great week for me in Lake Louise. It's ended up by a podium in Super-G , 3rd! it's been a while! I really did better and better day after day, making somes mistakes but I had always good feelings on my skis.
After my last season it's great to come back like this and especially in Lake Louise because these are the first races in speed.
I didn't really enjoy my podium with my team because we have to fly back in France directly after the race. One day of training in Val d'Isère before catch up the tech girls in Sweden for the Gs in Are.
Hope this race will be better than Aspen and Sölden!
See you soon!
Ingrid
Hello,
Greetings from Reiteralm! After return from USA I spent few days at home. Now I train in Reiteralm in Austria. Unfortunately is quite warm and the snow conditions are not very well. On Tuesday afternoon we fly from Munich to Östersund. We will be train in Are before the races at the weekend.
See you in Are!
Sarka
After two exhausting weeks with only one ski-free day (the journey day from USA to Canada) I arrived yesterday in Munich- unfortunately with three hours delay.
The weekend in Lake Louise was really good for me. As I couldn’t have so many speed-trainings in summer and Autumn I was really anxious how I would cope with the Downhill and Super-G. I already have achieved some times a podium place in Lake Louise and I really love the track, so that I had a really good feeling. Specially that I was only 35 hundredth behind my friend Lindsey Vonn pleased me. Lindsey has dominated the downhill discipline in the last two years and won a lot of races with more than one second winning margin… Also the 5th place at the Super-G was okay, in particular because I was quite exhausted on Sunday as I had caught a cold because of the extremely cold weather at the Canadian Rockies ( 30 degrees under zero!)
Tomorrow morning I travel to Kühtai (nearby Innsbruck-Austria) for the Slalom training and on Thursday I take the flight from Zürich to Östersünd/Sweden. At the weekend we have the next 2 technical competitions in Are.
See you soon!
Cordially,
Maria
Three weeks after her colleague from the ‘Milka Ski Girl’ team Maria Riesch, Sarka Zahrobska dominated the second slalom of the season organized by perfect weather conditions in the USA. Thanks to her nearly flawless runs down the demanding slalom course at Aspen, Sarka enjoyed her second consecutive wins in the famous Colorado resort which already brought her luck a year ago.
In fact, the 24-year-old skier from Prag was one of the very few athletes to somehow master the treacherous icy snow which covered the technically difficult slope.
"I really don't know why I'm so successful in Aspen, but I'm happy for that," the 2007 slalom World Champion said after the competition. "To win such a race you have to have many things happen at one moment. I had to fight hard and I’m very proud of my performance,” added the skier from the ‘Milka Ski Girls’ team.
Congratulations, Sarka! We hope that you will have many such perfect moments this season! Proud to support such amazing athletes!

Hi everybody,
Training and travelling in passed ten days were tough. Last week we stayed in Silverthorne and went for training to Loveland or Vail. The weather and slope conditions were very well. Of course, I found some free time for shopping and relaxing as well. On Thursday we arrived to Aspen. On Saturday I fell down, fortunately nothing happened to me, but I was a bit disappointed from my performance in GS. On Sunday’s race I achieved my second victory in my career in Aspen. It was so nice to stand on the top of podium again. Thank all for keeping your fingers crossed!
Sarka
I arrived in Salzburg on Tuesday forenoon and I am trying to get rid of the jetlag since then.
Next weekend we will start with the trainings- this time with speed, as the first Super combined will be soon!
Apart from that I will enjoy the rest of the week with my family and bake some cookies, and breathe some air of the magic advent…
Michi
The best thing is that I can change to speed events, after two technical weekends.
Today we had first training of DH and I skied with a lot of control, but I thing I will relax on next three trainings. I was skiing well in slalom, which is not my best discipline, so why wouldn't I do the same in downhill? I'm having fun when I go fast.
I know you all do! ;-)
Have a great time,
Tina
The race in Aspen didn’t work out that good for me. But I have to say, that the conditions were really hard. The slope was like a skating ring and so also the best skiers had troubles with the grip. I am not really upset about my performance at the Giant Slalom. At the first round I made a quite big mistake, but I could manage the iced slope quite well so that I finished as 14th. For being my “problem discipline” I finished better than in Sölden.
Of course for the Slalom I expected more, but especially in the upper part of the first round I had problems and could hardly avoid to fell off- In the second round I was better, but my two seconds behind the first weren’t recoverable. My 5th rang was behind expectations, but looking at it from another perspective: Of the overall world cup favourites (Vonn, Pärson, Görgl) I did the most points that weekend.
At the moment I am in Denver at the Airport hotel. Tomorrow morning we take off to Calagary and will drive to Lake Louise from there. On Tuesday we will start with the downhill training! I am looking forward to the speed-week in Canada!
Greets!
Maria
Hello,
Aspen was not a really good week-end for me. Like Sölden, the course was icy and I made too much mistakes on my first run to do the second run. I was disappointed with this result but I know also that my preparation was focused on the speed these last few days and I missed some Gs training on the ice, with my technician’s team mates.
I am off to Lake Louise now and downhill training starts on Tuesday.
Bye Chic Aspen, Welcome cold Lake Louise...
See you soon!
Tina
Hi everybody!
The flight to

Michi
Puh, I am quite tired! But fortunately we finally arrived in the

I tought I could cross deers this morning on my way to breakfast...but nothing appear! So nothing on the picture, but I swear I saw them yestersay!
I am in Nalkiska, just finished a huge week of speed training! 4 days of downhill, 2 of super-g with men's teams, that was very interesting and a change. My ski is going well and I expect the first downhill in
Now I'm preparing for
See you next week!
Ingrid
There are all strong challengers for this season and I'm very excited to start on the speed events.
I found also new equipment for this winter, on the picture, my Lilac Shoes especially made for a Milka Girl!
See you!
Ingrid
Wow! I really won the first Slalom of the season in Levi! After my rather weak training performance of the last weeks I didn`t really had a good feeling about the race. I had never thought that I would be able to win the race ! The more lucky I am that it worked out. A good start is specially at Slalom very important for the self-confidence and for the upcoming races.
Today trainings starts again on the Reiteralm in Schladming (Austria). There I am training the next two days for the Super G and Gigant Slalom. On Friday I fly to Moscow where a racing show in parallel slalom is taking place on Saturday. On Sunday evening I will arrive in Munich and on Monday I fly again- this time to the US for the preparation for the next World Cup in Aspen.
More infos soon!
Maria Riesch
Levi was worth the travel. My first result! And without taking all risk! I have a usable and quite good result- now I can come up to the self-confidence I have achieved at the trainings.
I am at home until Wednesday and then I fly to USA, where we will train the whole week.
See you soon!
Michi
Hi,
it was so nice racing on a such beautiful place like Levi again.
The slope was perfect and the people around great. The 8th place at the beginning of the season wasn’t bad but I know I can better. We came back to Prague on Sunday evening. We have two days for rest and on Wednesday we fly to Denver in Colorado.
See you there!
Sarka
We just arrived in Colorado (USA), we have training here before Aspen. I’m really happy with the slalom in Levi. This 12th place is my best slalom result for now. But I believe I can improve more. It was a good start and I am looking forward to continue even better in Aspen.
A big hello to everyone from Colorado!
Tina
I just arrived back home from Haus im Ennstal from two good training days. On Saturday our trainers had prepared the slope with water and thankfully for the cold temperatures we had a good iced slope and perfect racing conditions. On Wednesday morning our flight to the far north departs. So we will be able to train a little bit on Thursday in Levi. On Friday will take place the so called “slope inspection”, where we have for one hour the possibility to test the snow and to get the first fine tuning for the material.
I feel healthy and physically good, but I am not sure if I will achieve my sensational performance of the last season- we will see.
Please keep your fingers crossed for me!
Greets,
Maria
These are my last days in Europe before leaving for Canada.
I've been training at home for two weeks (just after the Gs in Sölden), especially doing physical training including bodybuilding, hiking and gymnastic.
We haven't skied yet because of the bad weather in France this week.
There have been lots of storms and snowfalls. That the inconvenient of our sport, we depend a lot of the sky !
Anyway, I just can't wait anymore to ski ! The schedule is to go to the glacier for 4 days to train on downhill. It will be great because the conditions will be good.
In one week, I'll be in Nakiska (Canada) to train in speed events with the French men's ski team. I'm enthusiastic about this country because of its nature, wild landscapes and the cold ! The most special place I've ever been is Lake Louise. It's in Banff National Park, in a valley with a beautiful lake and in front of you is a big glacier. I heard that sometimes you come across bears.....hope I never will !
I will sent you fresh news from there,
Talk later.
Ingrid
Hi,
Many greetings from Mölltal. The weather is beautiful but the conditions for training unfortunately not so good because of the new snow. We will go for two days for slalom training in ski hall to Wittenburg in Germany.
Sarka
After the race in Sölden it was a quite busy time for me: Sportstudio in Mainz, Slalom training at the Reiteralm, Blickpunkt-Sport and DSV-fitting in Herzogenrauch, training, presentation of the Olympic outfits, again training, etc. Last week we were in Haus im Ennstal for the Slalom and Super-G training. The conditions weren’t the best, but I made the best out of it. Before we fly to Finnland next week we will be on Slalom training for two days. There I will try to get the last tweak for the first Slalom race of season in Levi and hope to present myself in an excellent shape.
See you soon!
Maria Riesch
